How to Massage Your Scalp to Prevent Hair Loss and Regrow Hair

www.SabaBotanical.com Two Essential Keys to Prevent Hair Loss

To ensure that your hair grows healthy, you must eat a well-balanced diet of healthy foods. However, to stimulate the cells and blood flow, a daily basic scalp massage along with a weekly deep scalp massage is absolutely essential. Get in the habit and you’ll find that along with the benefits of healthy growing hair, stress will also be reduces. Reduced stress = Reduced hair loss. So let’s start with some basics and leap from there.

www.SabaBotanical.com Basic Scalp Massage

Beginning with the top of your forehead, use your fingertips and gently rub your hairline, forming little circles. Continue the circular massage along the sides toward the back of your head.

Massage in the small circular motion from the back nape of your neck up to the crown of your head, ending in the front -where you started.

Only 10 minutes twice a day are needed (morning/night) and a daily consistent routine.

btw: Even though the picture shows differently, you can massage your own scalp.

www.SabaBotanical.com Conditioning Massage

Beat 2 eggs with 2 tablespoons of water. Apply to WET hair. While egg mixture is on your hair, perform the basic circular scalp massage. Leave mixture on for another 10-15 minutes. Rinse hair with lukewarm water, followed by Lustrous Henna Dry Shampoo Powder (made into a paste). Cover hair with plastic cap.  Leave shampoo powder on hair for 5 minutes and rinse out. This will help prevent dandruff and hair loss.

Soak two tablespoons of fenugreek seeds in water at bedtime. In the morning, grind up the softened seeds into a paste. Apply paste to scalp and hair. Cover with plastic cap for 30 minutes. Rinse out paste. Follow up with Pure Shikakai Powder or Pure Reetha Powder Organic Wash.

Hot Oil Hair Massage Therapy

Before going to bed (or anytime you have an extra 6-8 hours to wear a plastic cap), massage hot oil into your scalp (Be careful not to make it too hot-should still be able to touch it without scalding your fingers).  It can be almond, coconut, EEVO (extra-virgin olive oil or any other oil known for promoting healthy hair growth. The only exception might be castor oil, which due to its thickness, is best applied to the scalp and hair roots only.

Cover hair with a plastic cap or wrap and hair bonnet/scarf. (Sleep on a towel to protect pillow from possible leaking). In the morning, (before bathing) mix a little lemon juice and acv (apple cider vinegar) together and apply it to your scalp, dabbing with a soft cloth.  Leave on for about 5 minutes and rinse out. Wash hair with Lustrous Henna Dry Shampoo Powder (made into a paste). Cover hair with plastic cap.  Leave shampoo powder on hair for 5 minutes and rinse out. This will also help prevent dandruff and hair loss.

Be Consistent In Your Hair Care Routine

You will see wonderful results over the next few weeks, simply by sticking to a healthy diet and following the above tips on scalp massage.

Get Rid of Chemical Hair Dye Stress on Your Tresses

www.sababotanical.com Stress Affects Your Entire Body Including Your Hair

Recently, I was totally sprawled out, lazily lounging on a beach chair, in the Caribbean. I felt the silent touch of soft trade winds, gently blowing palm trees against a panoramic sky. Other than my camera, I had no cell phone, no laptop, not even an IPOD. I had absolutely nothing to distract or pressure me. By relishing the moment and simply listening to the live reggae band, the laughter of a few bathers swimming in a nearby lagoon and drifting off to dreamland: I had totally de-stressed my mind and body.

In a similar way, figuratively speaking, I’ve also learned to naturally remove the stress from my hair dying experience. No longer do I damage my hair shaft, roots and scalp with detrimental chemical dyes. No drama of wondering how the seemingly endless array of synthetic colors will affect my health in the long run. No PPD, No ammonia, No peroxide, No chemicals. Like that tranquil day in paradise, I’ve learned to naturally de-stress my tresses.

www.sababotanical.com Use Herbal Hair Color Dye from Ancient Plants

After the trauma of my last chemical dye application a couple of years ago, I decided to cover my pesky gray hair by donning a wig. I felt that was the only viable solution since I experienced a terrible allergic reaction on my scalp from synthetic dye. Fortunately, I was accustomed to doing research. Therefore, I searched and finally found an ancient plant that not only colored my hair, but it actually helped nourish it.

The leaves from the henna and indigo plants have given my hair a new, stress-free life!  Initially, I prepared the henna and indigo in the traditional full-day method. However, as my research continued, I learned of a 100% natural henna hair color dye in various shades called,Lustrous Henna®. It does not contain any synthetic chemicals -of any kind. The method of application usually takes about an hour and a half (from start to finish). (Lustrous Henna® is a natural extract form of dye as opposed to grounded leaves (powder) of henna. Because of this, a long soaking time is not required.)

Build Tranquil Tresses by Staying Free of Synthetic Chemical Hair Dye

No more chemical dye nightmares. Stay far, far away from them and experience sweet reality. No need to daydream. All men and women can use Lustrous Henna® 100% All Natural Hair Color Dye to naturally color hair and cover gray. Lustrous Henna® is the brainchild of its creator, Syed Abbas. Mr. Abbas was on a quest to create a product combining pure henna with other ancient botanicals that wouldn’t leave his hair orangy-red, but give him back his black hair color and cover his gray.To learn more about de-stressing your tresses, all it takes is a visit to the following website: Saba Botanical of USA

TwylaR. Loves Lustrous Henna at www.SabaBotanical.com I’m a 54 yrs. old”natural” brunette and LOVE Lustrous Henna and their wonderful customer service with Syed.

A few months ago I was diagnosed with Lymphoma at Mayo Clinic with follow up 3 mos. visits to a Hematologist, blood specialist there. I then began to think about changing some of my lifestyle habits and a NATURAL Hair Color was an easy one to change. I am not on chemo since my Dr. says my own immune system is trying to fight this cancer. Chemo kills the good & the bad, therefore I’m thankful I do still have my hair at this time.

My friend introduced me to Lustrous Henna when I complemented her hair. I didn’t even know she used any type of color on it, because it looked so natural. She ordered my first time with her order,to try it out. So I have twice now, due to shorter hair.So glad I heard about this henna from her!

I am thankful for the Lustrous Henna’s shorter process time compared to others that require an extremely longer process and it leaves my hair in much, much better condition than when I did salon color.

My single priority, due to my health issue,is that it’s safe, plus it looks and feels so natural and healthy. I can’t say enough good about it.

It was my pleasure to visit with Syed a few days ago about Lustrous Henna. His patience and very informative manner is so helpful and refreshing. He is an asset to Lustrous Henna products. He helped me a great deal with tips on how to tone the gray as it grows in from my root line.

I sincerely thank you, Syed and Lustrous Henna for the difference you have made in my life.

I’ll be ordering again soon.

Warmest Regards,
Twyla R.

Para-phenylenediamine (PPD) Warning that Bears Repeating

www.SabaBotanical.com Para-phenylenediamine (PPD) in Hair Dye is Dangerous

A research report by John P. McFadden, in the British Medical Journal, shares the following information about chemical hair dye and the ingredient para-phenylenediamine (PPD):

“For more than 100 years para-phenylenediamine (PPD) and other related members of the aromatic amine family have been the main agents used in permanent hair dyes, and more than two thirds of hair dyes currently contain PPD. This compound is an effective hair dye owing to its low molecular weight, its ability to penetrate the hair shaft and follicle, its strong protein binding capacity, and its rapid polymerisation in the presence of a coupler (a kind of catalyst) and an oxidising agent. However these properties also make PPD an ideal contact allergen and, indeed, it is among the most potent.1

www.SabaBotanical.com Para-phenylenediamine (PPD) Can Cause Dangerous Allergic Reactions

During the 20th century allergic reactions to PPD became such a serious problem that it was banned from hair dyes in Germany, France, and Sweden.2 Current European Union legislation allows PPD to comprise up to 6% of the constituents of hair dyes on the consumer market (3% when added to the oxidising solution required to develop the colour). No satisfactory or widely accepted alternatives to the aromatic amine agents are available for use in permanent hair dye.

A patient with contact allergy to a hair dye often presents with dermatitis on the face or around the hair line. Severe reactions also occur; some patients have had such gross facial swelling that they have been treated initially for angio-oedema and some have been admitted to hospital.3 Contact allergy to PPD and related aromatic amine dyes is detected by patch testing using 1% PPD in petroleum jelly. This is included in most standard series of patch tests used to screen for contact allergy in patients with eczema. Such screening may, however, fail to detect allergic reactions to other hair dyes.”

www.SabaBotanical.com Heed the Warning about Para-phenylenediamine (PPD)

Regarding various reactions to the growing problem of chemical hair dye skin allergy, the report concluded:

“Wider debate on the safety and composition of hair dyes is overdue—among medical and scientific communities, the public, and legislators. Cultural and commercial pressures to dye hair and, perhaps, the widespread obsession with the “culture of youth” are putting people at risk and increasing the burden on health services. It may not be easy to reverse these trends, however, as some patients have continued to use such dyes even when advised that they are allergic to them and risk severe reactions.

BE SAFE. Use All-Natural Plant-based Hair Color Dye to Cover Gray or Show-Off Natural Highlights.

All men and women deserve to be safe when coloring their hair and therefore should avoid the potential dangers of using synthetic chemical hair dye. Your health should be a priority –even when dying your hair.

Dear Syed,

I am thrilled with your Lustrous Henna!! I have been using hair dye with ppd for over 20 years to cover my grey and have been very worried about exposing myself to the toxins, but not willing to go grey. I am grey around my bangs and temples only. After some experimentation I have gotten fabulous results.

The first time I used dark brown Lustrous Henna on my entire head, it was a gorgeous color and gave my baby fine hair great shine and texture. I did however have to repeat the application of the dark brown Lustrous Henna on my grey hair a few days later, as it was a little too red, and with the 2nd application my grey is a beautiful dark brown. Now I only touch up my grey roots once per month with the dark brown henna and apply it another time to get my Grays to dark brown, which I am happy to do to stay away from the chemicals.

I also want to thank you for your great care, advice, and generous time when I called to ask questions, the high quality of your customer service is rare. I am one happy customer, wishing you the best life can offer.

Sincerely, Jacqui

Why Won’t My Hair Grow? Part 3 of 3

www.SabaBotanical.com The Power to Grow Your Hair is in Your Control

This is part three of this series on our perennial, annual and container garden metaphors for hair condition. Now we will get down to the ‘nitty-gritty’ and talk ‘dirt’. The ‘soil’ we attempt to grow our gardens in is probably the most important part of attempting to yield a bountiful harvest of healthy, fabulous hair.

How Rich is Your Soil?

Some of us with ‘perennial’ hair growth simply cannot comprehend the amount of time and effort is takes to grow ‘annual’ or even ‘container’ gardens. (See: Why Won’t My Hair Grow? Part 1) After all, our hair does grow and we can obtain a longer length with no real effort on our part- other than a regular wash and light conditioning. However, at times we experience hair breakage, split ends, dandruff, brittle, and lack-luster hair. This can preoccupy our time and others who might suffer with seemingly more severe hair issues, don’t understand just what bothers us about our hair. We also search for answers to the amplified question: Why Won’t My Hair Grow –the way I want it to grow?

Do you nourish your body with healthy, protein-rich foods to ensure that your ‘soil’ is healthy enough to produce a healthy hair shaft? Or do you ‘survive’ on unhealthy and malnourishing fast foods?

www.SabaBotanical.com The Crucial Need to Feed Regularly

In order to have healthy hair, skin and nails –a well-balanced diet is critical. Iron-rich, protein foods, as well as those containing Vitamin C, Vitamin B-6, B-12, Foliate and Zinc will do much to improve ‘soil’ condition. A healthy diet should be the norm. Fast foods should be dramatically reduced or (dare I say it?) eliminated.

Regular Maintenance Required –Get Rid of Weeds!

Weeding a garden is done regularly can be very simple. If done rarely, can be a nightmare! Similarly if we establish a routine of hair maintenance, over time it becomes a very simple process. Shampooing and conditioning with the proper products (preferably natural), daily hair care and occasionally getting rid of the ‘weeds’ (split ends) will do much for our hair from roots to ends.

www.SabaBotanical.com A word of caution about clipping split ends:

If wanting to grow longer hair, NEVER clip more than 1/8”-1/4” (inch) per month. If you do, you’ll literally be cutting away your new hair growth! The reason is that most hair grows about 1/2” (inch) per month, totaling six (6) inches a year. Do the math. This is totally within our control. A tiny snipping is all that is really necessary, especially if we want to see visible hair growth results.

How Does YOUR Garden Grow?

While taking care of all the things within our power to control, it will grow abundantly with healthy and strong roots. No matter if we are growing a perennial, annual or container garden –even a combination of all three- we can achieve successful results by putting forth a dedicated and earnest effort.

Why Won’t My Hair Grow? Part 2

www.SabaBotanical.com “It’s too Hard, So I’m Not Gonna Try!”

Have you ever said the above, when attempting to grow a plant or flower that you’d love to have in your garden? That’s how I once felt about rose bushes. Or perhaps, nocturnal animals love to visit your veggies at night and you’ve awakened to a surprise, just one time too many. The problem in giving up completely is, sadly, we’ll never see any results from all our hard efforts.

Where’s the fun in that?

www.SabaBotanical.com ‘Predators’ We Can Eliminate with Special Effort

As I mentioned above, sometimes, we have a ‘predator’ in our garden that robs us temporarily of seeing a bounty. It could be an insect, bad weather or even a ‘cute’ bunny rabbit! Once the predator is gone, we start to see better growth. What ‘predators’ are temporarily affecting your hair condition and growth in a negative way?

  • Are you experiencing hormonal changes due to pregnancy, postpartum and nursing?
  • Are you under lots of stress?
  • Do you suffer from a glandular disorder such as thyroid disease or PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome)?
  • Are you taking medications that can cause hair loss?
  • Do you have a low iron (ferritin) level?

www.SabaBotanical.com Even though the above conditions can cause a slowing of hair growth or some hair fall, most are temporary and are within our (or our doctor’s) control to correct. We might need a change in medication, if that is possible. Additionally, some of these problems can be corrected by reducing stressful situations as much as possible. Yes indeed, undue stress and anxiety and cause us to literally lose our tresses.

‘Predator’ Removal Yields Healthy Harvest

If we’ve done all we can to remove any ‘predators’ that temporarily affect growth, then we can take proper measures to promote healthy growth cycles.  One important way to do this is (like all well-producing gardens), we need to start with rich, fertile soil. Figuratively speaking, it’s the same with our hair. We need to use rich “soil” or nutrients -inside our body, if we want healthy roots and longer hair growth -outside our body.

In part three of this series on our perennial, annual and container garden metaphors for hair condition, we will get down to the ‘nitty-gritty’ and talk ‘dirt’. The ‘soil’ we attempt to grow our gardens in will be discussed in: Why Won’t My Hair Grow? Part 3.

Why Won’t My Hair Grow? Part 1

www.SabaBotanical.com Get Ready to Garden

In the spring or early summer of the year, we love seeing our crocuses or other perennial flowers blossom.  What a refreshing reminder that winter has passed! That very sign also reminds many of us to get started on our annual gardens. Some of us tend a beloved vegetable garden or a beautiful flower garden. Then, there are those of us that are very happy with just a couple of new container plants decorating our front lawn. We love the idea of having something pretty to look at, but for whatever the reason, we don’t want to take the time to grow it from “scratch”. We might reason that, “Hey, if it dies, I’ll just buy another one!”

Perennial, Annual or Container?

In many ways, our hair is like the kind of plant we prefer to grow.  For the majority of us, we have a luscious ‘perennial garden’ atop our head –just ‘fertilize’ regularly and grow. For others, like our ‘annual plantings’, our hair tends to need more care in order to ‘blossom’ and grow to its full potential. If we stop the care, we can lose our hair. On the other hand, for various reasons, some of us feel forced to buy a wig or hair extensions – a “container garden” – to adorn our face. For the moment, it’s pretty to look at, and when it goes ‘bad’, we simply buy another one. It is these two latter types of ‘gardens’ that is the focus of this series of articles.

www.SabaBotanical.com Why Won’t My Garden Grow?

Our hair needs care to flourish and grow to its full potential. It’s not enough to ‘water’ it on occasion with any ole’ shampoo and conditioner and settle for whatever sprouts. It needs nourishment on a regular basis. What if though, we have made tremendous efforts to care for and grow our hair, yet sadly we still experience problems with hair loss or hair fall? Like an unhealthy plant that ‘sickens’ and fails to grow after receiving tremendous care, the problem could be a medical issue.

Let’s face it, some gardens might take a little effort to yield great results and others need an even greater effort to flourish. However, there are those that might have highly acidic soil or not received enough sunlight or sadly succumb to disease and require a much longer time to grow -anything– even with a huge effort on our part. Some won’t grow at all.

Conditions Beyond Our Control

Is your hair thinning due to male pattern baldness? Do you have an ongoing medical treatment known to cause hazardous effects on the hair? Even aging itself can cause your hair to become thinner, since the follicle is in a much longer resting phase, instead of the growing phase. There are several other conditions that are beyond our control and these sadly affect our (lack of) hair growth. It’s best to visit and work with your physician for optimal care if you suffer hair loss due to a medical or aging issue.

The next part of this series will discuss conditions that are within our control and what we can do about them.
