5 Indian Plants for Hair Growth and Healthy Hair Care –by L.J. O’Neal, writer.
Actually, this is the first of two articles that will review the beneficial properties of 10 commonly used Indian plants for hair growth and healthy hair care. This post reviews the first 5 plants on this list.[1] Listed in alphabetical order:

Amla, Bhringraj, Brahmi, Cassia Obovata, Henna

Amla (Indian Gooseberry, Emblica officinalis)

Amla (oil and powder) is used as a treatment for hair and scalp problems. Amla is wonderful cleansing agent and excellent conditioner for hair. It imparts luster to hair and protects from dandruff, also helps prevent premature gray hair. It stimulates growth of hair on the scalp, and strengthens the hair roots. Amla extract in all-natural shampoo does not deposit any color on the hair and can be used by everyone. Amla extract helps replace the nourishment lost by hair gels, chemical hair color and hair spray.

Bhringraj

Bhringraj is an Ayurvedic herb found throughout India. For centuries, it has been reported to improve hair growth and color. A medical study showed that extracts of Eclipta prostrata decreased the amount of time it took for hair to begin regrowing and to fully regrow. [1] Bhringraj (Eclipta prostrata) is used from the hair shaft to the tips, for preventing baldness, anti-dandruff, anti-lice and revitalizing the hair. Bhringraj is also proven to be effective with numerous benefits: improve hair shaft condition; stop hair loss and thinning hair; promote luxuriant hair growth; stop premature graying of hair shaft and improve hair color. It’s used as a rejuvenating hair tonic and natural hair conditioner.

Brahmi

Brahmi (scientific name: Bacopa monnieri) has been long used as a hair tonic to provide nourishment and vitality for radiant hair color. By nourishing the hair roots and scalp, it is known to reduce hair fall and premature baldness, clears dandruff from scalp, thus promoting healthy and lustrous hair with no side effects.

Cassia Obovata

Cassia Obovata (Senna italica) is an ancient plant from India that has a number of beneficial properties. The ground powder is made from harvested, dried leaves of the plant. Cassia Obovata will naturally condition all textures of hair, adding luster and supple definition. It’s also been used to thicken, color or highlight natural hair color; improve scalp condition and eliminate dandruff.

There is some confusion about Cassia Obovata due to the fact that Cassia Obovata (Senna) has been commonly marketed as Neutral Henna. Cassia Obovata is not Henna or made from the Henna plant. The staining and conditioning properties of Cassia Obovata (similar to henna staining and conditioning) might be one of the reasons it is often marketed as “neutral henna”.

Staining properties: The yellow color is left when the Cassia Obovata made into a paste and is left on the hair for long periods of time. If your natural hair color is blonde or gray, it will brighten and add golden hues and golden highlights (depending on length of time it’s left on your hair). If your natural hair color is brunette or black, you will still reap the deep conditioning benefits found in pure Cassia Obovata –but it will not bring out golden highlights if you don’t have any naturally.

Henna

In addition to its staining and dying properties, did you know that the henna plant is also used for its hair conditioning benefits? Pure henna contains conditioning properties that are quite beneficial to hair. Henna as a hair conditioner results in increased strength and shine to your hair. With continued use, henna hair dye restores the acid/alkaline balance in the scalp. Damaged hair begins to heal and strands are protected from further damage and excessive dryness. Additionally, henna has been used for centuries as an effective aid to treat and prevent dandruff. Allergy to pure henna is extremely rare.

Where can you find a reputable supplier of these Indian plants for hair growth in powder form? Saba Botanical of USA. In my next post, I’ll review the benefits of: Hibiscus, Neem, Orange Peel, Reetha, Shikakai. 5 more Indian plants for hair growth and healthy hair care.

1Apart from this list, there are also a number of other Indian plants for hair growth and healthy hair care.

Very nice. Fantastic conditioner. Leaves hair healthy and fuller creating grays that are not so gray but a clean light non-obtrusive blond. Clean smell and very easy to use. –Cynthia P., Santa Rosa, CA USA

Blonde ‘henna’*. My hair has never been this healthy; plus, the color is great. -Kathy B., Moscow Mills, MO  USA

Love it!  Wonderful product – very fresh and well packaged. Great customer service. Affordable. I love the benefits of Cassia without the orangey color my medium brown hair gets with straight up Henna. My preference is to have blue/black hair and Henna is not worth it when I can just skip the color effects of Henna for NO color with Cassia but still get tons of strength and conditioning benefits. –Mony M., Albuquerque, NMUSA

Cassia Obovata Powder Reviews for Saba Botanical of USA –by L.J. O’Neal, writer.About the Misnomer: “Neutral Henna”

Cassia Obovata or Senna is an herb that is frequently marketed by several companies as “Neutral Henna” powderOf course this questionable marketing practice causes much confusion to the consumer.

As noted above, Cassia Obovata has a number of beneficial properties that help condition and soften the hair. However pure Cassia Obovata is not henna powder or made from the henna plant -as is the case with a genuine henna powder “neutral” mixture.

The staining and conditioning properties of Cassia Obovata or Senna (similar to henna powder staining and conditioning) might be one of the reasons it is often marketed as neutral henna.

*Important: Please Don’t Get Confused!

At Saba Botanical of USA, “neutral henna” is henna powder made from the stems of the henna plant. Genuine “neutral henna” from Saba Botanical of USA is not Cassia Obovata (Senna).  Therefore, know the botany and ingredients of your ancient herbal products and purchase them from a reputable natural hair and skin care company.

Senna Brings Out Golden Highlights on a Cloudy Day

Saba Cassia ObovataNatural Hair Color -Golden Highlights Cassia Obovata (Senna)

Cassia Obovata (Senna) will naturally condition all textures of hair, adding luster and supple definition. It is also known to improve scalp condition and eliminates dandruff. If your natural hair color is blonde or gray, it will brighten and add golden hues and golden highlights (depending on length of time Senna is left on your hair). If your natural hair color is brunette or black, you will still reap the deep conditioning benefits found in pure Cassia Obovata (Senna) –but it will not bring out golden highlights if you don’t have any naturally.

Cassia Obovata is also called Senna (Senna Obovata). There are over 400 species of the Cassia Obovata plant. The ground powder is made from harvested, dried leaves of the plant. Although it has various medicinal uses, this powder is often used to condition, thicken, define and color or highlight natural hair color.

About Cassia Obovata (Senna) from Saba Botanical

Cassia Obovata or Senna is an herb that is frequently marketed as “Neutral Henna”. As noted above, the plant has a number of beneficial properties that help condition and soften the hair. However, it is not Henna or made from the Henna plant as is the case with true Neutral Henna.

According to Wikipedia, “Another Senna, Senna  italica (=Cassia obovata), often called “neutral henna”, is used as a hair treatment with effects similar to henna but without the red color. The active component is an anthraquinone derivative called chrysophanic acid. It adds a slight yellow color.”

The yellow color is left when the Senna made into a paste and is left on the hair for long periods of time. The staining and conditioning properties of Senna (similar to Henna staining and conditioning) might be one of the reasons it is often marketed as “neutral henna”.

Buy Cassia Obovata and Neutral Henna from a Reputable Source

Be assured that, when you buy Senna from Saba Botanical of USA, it is called: “Cassia Obovata”. It is not called, “Neutral Henna”. Lustrous Henna® Neutral Henna is a powder made from the stem of the henna plant and does not emit color, but accentuates the natural highlights in the hair. It’s also a hair conditioner. It is not Cassia Obovata.

If you love your natural hair color and want pure all-natural Cassia Obovata (Pure Senna) to bring out the natural golden highlights of your hair, buy it from a reputable source.

Are You Nervous When Thinking of Changing Your Hair Color “Service”?

Request Lustrous Henna at Hair Salon. www.SabaBotanical.com
www.SabaBotanical.com www.SabaBotanical.com It’s natural to be nervous and apprehensive when it comes to changing a personal service that we’ve probably been doing for years. It feels great leaving our favorite hair salon with the perfect cut, perfect style and perfect color. It’s possible that we couldn’t image being happier than how we feel at the moment. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, might be a better way of expressing how we feel when it comes to changing our hair color service.

However, think about other “habits” that were once thought to be a great way to enhance our image and self-esteem: perhaps cigarette smoking, imbibing loads of fine liquor or other vices glamourized on Hollywood films. What have we learned about cigarette smoking and our health? The link to lung cancer has been taken seriously. It’s just one smart reason why so many individuals have wisely stopped smoking. The link between drinking heavily and liver disease is no longer ignored either.

www.SabaBotanical.com

Although, initially quite apprehensive and understandably nervous about changing a bad habit, those that have made the change are normally quite happy with their decision. Many have also found healthier activities to replace the former detrimental vices and are not only pleased, but completely satisfied, knowing they’ve made a wise lifestyle change.

www.SabaBotanical.com It’s similar with our hair. For many years, many of us have used chemical hair dyes; however, we have now been enlightened. If you read this blog regularly, as well as the Saba Botanical website, you are quite knowledgeable about the dangers of synthetic dyes and the potential dangers to your health. Therefore, why not make the change to something better?

Talk to your hair stylist. Don’t be surprised if they don’t welcome the idea of using an all-natural hair dye that promotes healthy hair growth and brings out your true natural highlights. On the other hand, Lustrous Henna® All-Natural Hair Color Dye might be the just the product they’ve been searching for! Most hair stylists have “problem” clients whose hair doesn’t react well to chemicals of any kind. Who knows? They may just thank you!

Still, don’t fret if your hair stylist is unwilling to change his or her method of applying hair dye to meet your current needs. Usually, if you refuse to not be swayed from your decision, they’ll attend to your needs. If not, the very last resort (hopefully, it won’t come to this) is to find a good stylist that’s willing to work with you using Lustrous Henna® All-Natural Hair Color Dye. They’re out there and the numbers are happily growing!

When you make this wise lifestyle decision, you’ll no longer be nervous, but ecstatic and extremely content with your choice.

Dear Syed,

Last week during a phone conversation, you helped me choose the proper color of “Lustrous Henna”. I received it in a very timely manner and applied it last night. This was the first time I attempted to color my hair myself and was very nervous:)…however, I am very happy to say that I’m THRILLED with the results!!! While I was about 40% gray, I got great coverage and am confident that another application next week will take care of the few remaining gray hairs:) The color is so natural looking, and the highlights that run throughout my hair are very pretty.

Thank you so much for your help and kindness when we spoke, it was very much appreciated. I know I’ll be a customer of “Lustrous Henna” for many years to come, and will definitely spread the word to friends and family members!

Sincerely,
Rosalie

Hello Syed,

I told you I would send you pictures of before and after. I hope these will help. Let me know if there’s anything else that would help. Thank you again for all your kind help.

“Love your product! I am 85% grey and ordered the Henna Soft Black along with the Indigo. I used three parts of Henna Soft Black and one part of Indigo. I love the results. I got a very dark brown to black color hair which was exactly what I was looking for.

I used chemical dyes two or three times and developed severe reactions to the chemicals used in those products. With the Henna Soft Black and Indigo I just get great looking hair with no reactions. Would recommend to anyone looking for natural products”.

Saba Botanical,

Hi Syed, I just wanted to give my input on your wonderful hair products. Not only have you given me the best service, but I have had many satisfied customers who suffer from side effects of chemical hair dyes. There is a great variety of colors to choose from and no worries of side effects or dry damaged hair. Many of my customers (men & women) including my mom have said their hair has strengthened and shines beautifully.

Thank you Syed for providing me with the best service and results for my clients.

Yours in health,

Rita 🙂

Have Healthy Oils in Your Kitchen and Bath? Prevent Hair Loss. Grow Your Hair. Pt. 2

Flaxseed Oil Benefits

Flax seeds & Flaxseed Oil Flaxseed oil contains an abundance of Omega-3 fatty acids that contribute to healthy hair growth. It’s known to revitalize the scalp in part due to its anti-inflammatory properties. The essential fatty acids have been known to combat psoriasis and eczema. Flaxseed oil, when taken as a dietary supplement, also promotes shiny, radiant and healthy hair.

www.SabaBotanical.com Flaxseed oil can be found in whole food markets and other all-natural or herb stores. You can make your own at a fraction of the price and make sure it’s stored in amber glass instead of black plastic, but you will have to invest in a cold-press oil extractor.

To make Cold-Pressed Flaxseed Oil, you’ll still need to purchase flax seed and an oil press extractor. Flax seed can be found easily in international farmer’s markets and better grocery stores. For information on purchasing an Oil Press Extractor unit, do your own research and make your own purchasing decision according to your budget and personal need:

www,SabaBotanical.com Virgin Coconut Oil Benefits and Hair Care Application

Virgin Coconut oil is unadulterated and free of chemical or other additives. Virgin Coconut oil is an excellent pre-shampoo treatment because it not only coats the hair, it penetrates the hair shaft.

Coconut oil has been used to promote hair growth, literally, for centuries. Protein loss is reduced and hair is protected from drying and breaking due to the medium chain triglycerides (MCT) contain within coconut oil. This is also a substance that is contained in sebum (an oily substance secreted from the sebaceous glands that keep the scalp moist). The scalp contains ‘friendly’ bacteria that break down the MCT into free fatty acids.  This is what provides protection against scalp problems such as dandruff and head lice. The oil also adds a radiant sheen to the hair.

A testimonial about Lustrous Henna® All Natural Hair Color Dye

My name is Gail G. live in Los Angeles Ca. I am an interior designer and have to look my best at all times. Several months ago, I developed an allergy to all salon products. They started to burn my scalp ,even the so-called henna products I tried all had some kind of chemical ingredients. My husband found out about Saba on the Internet and I sent away for your product. Since I started using Saba, there has been no more burning, and the color is rich and naturally beautiful. It is a great and safe product ,and I highly recommend it.
Thank you,
Gail G.
